We, the Booster Board, will do our best to answer any questions you may have about SPHS. If we don't have an answer ourselves, we'll track it down for you. Then we'll share it via email, Facebook, and right here on our website.
Q: How do I check to see how many volunteer hours I have logged at SPHS? A: First, make sure that you have activated or reactivated your Volunteer Counts! account via the computers on campus. Next, you can pull a complete report of your hours at one of those computers. If you're not able to get to a campus computer, just email the Volunteer Coordinator at firstname.lastname@example.org and request an update. The Volunteer Coordinator will look it up for you. Please keep in mind, this information can only be obtained from the computers at the school. So give the Volunteer Coordinator ample time to be able to get to campus and check this information for you. Due to the vast number of hours that we are entering from the four Orientations and the Open House, not all hours have been submitted yet. But all blue sheets and sign in lists are in our possession and ready for input. Thank you for your patience. THESE HOURS HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH YOUR STUDENT'S COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS. SPHS VOLUNTEER HOURS ARE A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT THING.
Q: How do parents/students can check to see if their community service hours have been entered and how many they have on record? A: A parent can find out if their child's hours have been entered by checking the back side of their report card. There exists a tab for “Community Service Hours.” If parents have accessed the student parent portal, they can click “Download Official Report Card” (it is highlighted in yellow near the top of the page). When the PDF opens, scroll to the second page (which would be the back of the report card). You'll see a gray heading titled "Community Service Hours". Your child's logged hours should be posted here. THESE HOURS HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THE SPHS POLICY FOR PARENT VOLUNTEER HOURS. COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS ARE A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT THING.
PLEASE NOTE: The school registrar, Lisa Carcifero, is responsible for input of the information. Additional important notes regarding this information is:
If you were to look right now, you may only see "For Future Use" on your student's card. This may be because the hours were entered after the last report card was created.
Students are responsible for maintaining their log sheets and submitting to the registrar when 75, 100 or 150 hours a logged. Students should not bring up 5 hours one week and 3 hours two weeks later etc…Hours will only be reflected once the student has achieved 75, 100 and/or 150.
There is not a “Real Time” running log of hours other than the sheets that the students submit. When submitting the sheets students should ask for a copy or maintain a copy for their records in the event that it does not get recorded correctly and reflected accurately on the report card.
Q: What clubs are currently available at SPHS and when do they meet? A: While the SPHS Boosters help to fund the SPHS clubs, the Boosters do not plan or organize any of the clubs. Please check with the school for club information, meeting times, etc.
